Performance & Safety - A Unique Combination

Have you heard about polluted rivers, wells and oceans? How about bee kills, and higher cancer rates from the use of chemical pesticides?

We are living in a time where our actions as humans are having a more dramatic and measurable effect on the environment around us. With a world population approaching 8 billion people (579,000,000 in North America) it is not hard to imagine how individual actions can quickly add up to become a huge problem. According to a 2017 EPA study worldwide pesticide use totaled nearly 3 billion pounds in 2012 , of which the US accounted for 678 million. These compounds can end up in the air we breath, the water we use, the fields we play on or in the food we eat. Whether you are concerned with bee colony collapse, water toxicity issues or just the general heath of your family, community and environment you can make informed choices to use environmentally responsible products and help become part of the solution.

Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis): A Tool Used in Organic Farming For Nearly 100 Years.

Phyllom BioProducts’ patented strain of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is the first bio insecticide that effectively controls susceptible beetles, weevils, borers and grubs upon ingestion. It is the first BT insecticide powerful enough to control both adult and larva stages of susceptible pests.

Naturally present in soils around the world, Bt has been used by farmers since the early 20th century as a crop protection tool. Phyllom’s strain (discovered from a soil sample at the turn of the 21st century) is unique to other Bt strains in that it controls susceptible beetles, weevils and borers.

Safe for Pollinators (such as Bees & Butterflies)

Bee colony collapse is a real problem that has the potential to affect $217 billion ($18.9 billion in the US) of crops worldwide.  Pesticide use is one of several factors which contribute to bee mortality rates. Pollinators are responsible for producing much of the food we eat; and with out them fruit, nuts and dairy products would become a thing of the past. Fortunately, Phyllom’s products do not pose a risk to bees, butterflies (including monarchs) or other pollinators.

“One-third of the food we eat depends on insect pollination, mostly by honeybees...”

April 2018 Study: Effect on the Painted Lady Butterfly

A 3rd party study performed by ALLtech Research & Development, Inc (Sparta, IL) supports Phyllom’s claim that its product, beetleGONE! is safe to use around the painted lady butterfly. beetleGONE! was tested using both the high & low label rates vs untreated subjects.

Safe for Ladybugs & Parasitic Wasps

In addition to pollinators, Phyllom’s products do not pose a risk to other beneficial insects such as ladybugs (a natural predator to aphids) or parasitic wasps (which control wood boring beetles).

Jan - Apr 2011 Study: Effect on the Lady Bug

A 3rd party study performed by Wildlife International, Ltd  (Easton, MD) supports Phyllom’s claim that it’s active ingredient, Bt subsp. galleriae strain SDS-502, poses no risk to ladybugs when compared to untreated plots.
